Dorian Absorbs the Sun During the Eclipse

The Night Cleaner

Dorian Absorbs the Sun During the Eclipse is the moment Dorian turns the eclipse into a worldwide display of power: he draws sunlight from across the globe into himself, leaving the Earth in darkness and gaining a surge of strength. The act makes his revenge physical and planetary, while his decision to limit the darkness to one day exposes a boundary he will not cross even as he deliberately inflicts suffering.

Preparation and Timing

The absorption takes place amid coordinated upheaval. Battles are unfolding in cities around the world, while the people Dorian recruited have been left free to act as they wish. Roady has infected the main government systems with a virus expected to delay their recovery for at least two hours. That window gives Dorian time to carry out his plan as institutions struggle to respond.

Dorian watches the eclipse begin from the roof of Griffin Enterprises Tower, the tallest tower in Seahill, as the moon starts to cross the sun’s path. The location gives the moment a clear vantage point, but the scale of what follows quickly exceeds the city: his target is sunlight from around the globe, not merely the light above Seahill.

The Absorption

As the eclipse reaches totality, Dorian’s body glows with the sun’s radiation. He draws in every ray he can reach, describing the sunlight from around the world as converging on him in a blast of light. When the moon has completely covered the sun, night takes over; the natural eclipse and Dorian’s supernatural act coincide, but it is his absorption that turns the darkness into a global consequence of his power.

The final sunlight enters his veins, and the effect registers on his body: his vision takes on a glow and a subtle current runs over his skin. Dorian recognizes the scale of what he has accumulated as immense power. The change is not simply an alteration in the sky. Light has become something he can draw into himself, and the world’s loss of it marks his own moment of intensification.

Retaliation and Its Limit

Dorian intends the darkness to last one solid day. He wants people to suffer as his people have suffered, and as he has suffered, making deprivation an instrument of retaliation rather than an accidental effect of the eclipse. His stated aim is to keep the population alive so that it can experience that suffering.

That limit matters: Dorian does not plan to hold the sunlight indefinitely. He rejects a longer darkness because plants would wilt and nature would slowly die. His restraint does not undo the deliberate harm, but it distinguishes the one-day punishment he chooses from an ecological catastrophe he says he does not want. The act therefore holds vengeance and containment together: he intends widespread suffering, yet sets a duration meant to prevent the destruction of life beyond it.

Draco Arrives Too Late

Draco calls out to Dorian after the sun has been completely covered and the last sunlight has entered Dorian’s veins. Dorian expects Draco to appear, but Draco arrives a few seconds too late to prevent the absorption. The timing leaves Dorian already transformed by the power he has gathered and the Earth already darkened; the scene closes on the confrontation’s missed opportunity to stop the act before it is complete.
